Newhaven on Forth: Port of Grace

This new history of Newhaven covers over four hundred and fifty years. The author's own connections with the port prompted him to delve into the history of Newhaven and the result of his painstaking research is a fascinating blend of historical facts and amusing anecdotes which combine to provide a complete picture of the folk who have lived there over the years. Newhaven is inextricably linked with the sea and captains such as Wood, Barton, Merrimonth, Brownhill, Paterson and Lamb, and boats such as the Yellow Carvel and Great Michael figure largely in the book, as do the smugglers and fishermen of later times.
